Entain Rehoming Policy & Videos

FAO: All Entain greyhound owners and greyhound trainers

Overview

Entain has continues to invest in the rehoming of the greyhounds running at our tracks.

This investment has spanned across a number of schemes being deployed including:

- direct financial donations to attached rehoming centres;

- wider exposure of the rehoming ecosystem through a dedicated social media

campaign; and

- greater awareness at Entain’s tracks of the rehoming centres available through

which greyhounds may be rehomed.

In addition to the investments listed above and as part of Entain’s commitment to support

their greyhound trainers, greyhound owners, greyhounds and homing centres, this homing

policy (Homing Policy) has been produced. Entain asks all trainers to read and familiarise

themselves with the Homing Policy in order to guarantee their adherence to the principles

outlined in the document.

In parallel with the ‘GBGB Responsible Homing Policy’ published by the Greyhound Board

of Great Britain (GBGB) in 2023, this Homing Policy outlines Entain’s requirements, best

practises, advice and support networks available, to ensure that all greyhounds running

at an Entain owned track and under the ownership of Entain contracted trainers and

greyhound owners are rehomed in the best possible manner.

1. Greyhound Owner and Greyhound Trainer Responsibilities

1.1 Entain expect all their greyhound owners and greyhound trainers to rehome any

retired greyhounds in their ownership responsibly as per the GBGB Responsible

Homing Policy available here.

1.2 By way of reminder, the GBGB Responsible Homing Policy clearly states that

should any greyhound be privately rehomed, the owners “can return the greyhound

to the trainer/racing owner”.

2. UK Homing Centre Locations

2.1 Entain Affiliated Centres

Listed below are the rehoming centres affiliated with Entain tracks and available

to rehome greyhounds:

• Monmore

o Greyhound Trust – Wolverhampton

o Home Run Hounds

• Romford

o Romford Greyhound Owners Association

o Greyhound Trust – Ashwells

o Romford Retired Greyhounds

• Hove

o Clarks Farm

each an “Entain Affiliated Homing Centre”.

2.2 Any greyhound trainer or greyhound owner who intends to rehome an Entain

greyhound should discuss their requirements with Kevin Stow, the Entain

Rehoming Co-Ordinator, who can be contacted on 07711 556873 and

homing@entaingroup.com.

2.3 GBGB Approved Centres

A full list of GBGB approved centres can be found here. Entain encourages its

greyhound trainers and greyhound owners to create and maintain their own

relationships with these centres to facilitate an efficient rehoming rate.

3. UK Homing Centre Process

3.1 Any greyhound trainer or greyhound owner who wishes to utilise one of the Entain

Affiliated Homing Centre’s listed above should in the first instance speak to Kevin

Stow, the Entain Rehoming Co-Ordinator, who can be contacted on 07711 556873

and homing@entaingroup.com. Kevin will then liaise with the Entain Affiliated

Homing Centre as and when they indicate they have capacity.

3.2 Priority of intakes to an Entain Affiliated Homing Centre will be given to greyhound

trainers at Entain’s absolute discretion. Entain will consider the greyhound trainers

adherence to this Homing Policy and which trainers proactively engage with the

rehoming of any retired greyhounds.

3.3 To expedite the intake of the greyhounds and support the Entain Affiliated Homing

Centre’s (many of whom are volunteer based charities), the following items must

be completed and shared with Entain before the greyhound is taken to the Entain

Affiliated Homing Centre:

• the greyhound must be spayed or castrated (as applicable) in advance;

• a dental check must be completed for the greyhound and their teeth and

gums must be recorded as in good condition;

• the greyhound must be vaccinated up to date with at least 3 months left

before renewal; and

• the greyhound must be fully bonded on the Greyhound Retirement Scheme

(GRS).

3.4 Whilst there are no mandatory fees associated with the intake of greyhounds to

an Entain Affiliated Homing Centre, it is recommended that a donation of £100 or

more be sent by the trainer to the Entain Affiliated Homing Centre to assist with

the costs of rehoming and caring for the greyhound.

3.5 All Entain contracted greyhound trainers must engage with the racing offices

situated at their attached racing tracks no less than once a week in order to update

Entain on the status of all of their greyhounds. For the avoidance of doubt, this

includes greyhounds which are still racing as well as greyhounds which are retired.

4. Dog Readiness Requirements

4.1 In addition to the physical requirements outlined under point 3.3 above and to give

the Entain Affiliated Homing Centre the best possible headstart with the rehoming

of the greyhounds, we ask for the greyhounds to be prepared for rehoming whilst

at the kennels.

4.2 Naturally, dogs will have different likes and dislikes. In order to help the Entain

Affiliated Homing Centre, evidence of the following behavioural characteristics

must be shared with the Entain Affiliated Homing Centre when the space for that

greyhound is confirmed:

• ability to cohabit with cats;

• attitude to other pets;

• ability to cohabit with children;

• ability to be left unattended for longer periods of time; and

• behaviour whilst out walking on a lead.

4.3 Some the Entain Affiliated Homing Centre’s have a backlog of homes waiting for

the right dog and so sending over the details specified under point 4.2 above, to

the Entain Affiliated Homing Centre in advance can help to expedite the rehoming

process.

5. International Homing Process

5.1 Entain have made available an international homing programme (Programme) to

all of its greyhound owners and greyhound trainers based at the Romford, Hove or

Monmore tracks. This Programme involves Entain making a financial contribution

to support the greyhound’s owner during the course of the greyhound’s rehoming

to North American approved rehoming centres.

5.2 All greyhound trainers and greyhound owners looking to utilise this Programme

must ensure that the greyhound has the correct behavioural attitude to handle a

flight and, along with a financial payment, complete the following:

• spaying or castrating (as applicable) of the greyhound;

• ensure all necessary vaccinations are administered (rabies and standard

DPH vaccinations);

• GBGB Retired Greyhound Homing Information Form; and

• arrange travel to the vet for vaccinations, “Fit to Fly” check and to the

airport.

5.3 If accepted onto the Programme, Entain will also contribute a financial amount to

the rehoming. For more details, please contact your Racing Manager who will pass

on your details to Kevin Stow, the Entain Rehoming Co-Ordinator
